This document forms a technical annex to CAP 1616, Airspace Design: Guidance on the regulatory process for changing airspace design including community engagement requirements. This technical annex outlines relevant methodologies for use in environmental assessments relating to airspace change. The CAA has published a Policy on Minimum Standards for Noise Modelling (CAP2091). In its next update, CAP 1616a will reflect these changes in noise policy – but in the meantime please note that the provisions of CAP2091apply. This second edition has been updated to include an illustrative example of a noise assessment for an airspace change.

CAP1616A has been superseded by CAP1616i. It remains available for reference alongside version 4 of CAP1616.
