UK Civil Aviation Regulations

These are published by the CAA on our UK Regulations pages. EU Regulations and EASA Access Guides published by EASA no longer apply in the UK. Our website and publications are being reviewed to update all references. Any references to EU law and EASA Access guides should be disregarded and where applicable the equivalent UK versions referred to instead.

In order to carry out certain of its regulatory duties, the CAA requires stakeholders (usually airports) to provide us with outputs from noise modelling. In this policy, the CAA specifies the minimum acceptable level of sophistication of noise modelling that can be used to provide the CAA with the outputs required for us to carry out our duties.

This document defines Categories of noise modelling sophistication, describes the different situations where our duties require us to be provided with noise calculations, and sets out our requirements of the minimum Category which different stakeholder or sponsor groups should use when providing noise calculations to the CAA in order for the CAA to carry out the identified duties.
