The North Atlantic (NAT) is the busiest of all oceanic airspace; direct pilot-controller communication is limited and radar surveillance is generally unavailable. Flight within NAT HLA airspace is only available with the required approval.

The exact dimensions of the NAT HLA airspace are stated within The Air Navigation Order & Regulations.

The ICAO North Atlantic Operation Manual provides the best source of guidance and information for those planning operations in NAT hla airspace.
