During the drafting of the Air Navigation Order 2016 the requirement for holders of medical certificates to inform an Aero Medical Examiner (AME) of unfitness to fly (in the circumstances set out in Article 166) was additionally applied to those flying in accordance with a medical declaration under Article 163. This was not intentional. This exemption alleviates from this requirement.
