All passengers on offshore commercial air transport helicopter flights in an hostile environment are required to wear life-jackets and, depending on the water temperature, survival suits. Passengers who are medically incapacitated may not be able to comply and alleviation is necessary for them to be carried on such flights. This exemption provides for such carriage subject to various conditions and is drawn from proposed requirements contained in the future Specific Approval for offshore helicopter operations SPA.HOFO.
