A recent change to UK legislation has resulted in the mandatory reporting of birdstrikes. This report assesses the completeness and accuracy of the reporting of birdstrikes in the UK. The primary objective was to establish whether any action was required to improve reporting and to identify where any such action should be targeted. It makes a number of recommendations to improve the completeness and accuracy of reports. It also found a continuing need for CAA to remind aerodrome licensees and aircraft operators of their responsibilities to share information.
