About The Innovation Hub

In 2019 the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) launched the innovation hub in response to the continuous pace of innovation in aviation. With advances in technology, and significant private and public investments, there has been an increase of new entrants coming into the aviation sector, all working on cutting-edge concepts to revolutionise the aviation industry.

The innovation hubs' purpose is to create an environment where innovation in aviation can develop in line with the CAA principles.

What we do

We are creating a regulatory environment where innovation in aviation can progress in line with CAA principles, guiding the CAA and the industry in a similar direction by:

  • Making CAA expertise, guidance, and viewpoints on regulations more accessible to innovators.
  • Providing a focal point of contact and information.
  • Helping innovators maximise regulatory preparation for the demonstration of their aviation systems, by testing them in safe environments and learning how they address regulatory challenges.
  • Accelerating the development of new policies and regulations by predicting regulatory challenges in areas of innovation and then considering the requirements for new policies and regulations.
