Establishing and managing airspace restrictions

Guidance for site owners, event organisers, property owners and operators of unmanned aircraft.

Our UAS Airspace Restrictions, guidance and policy (CAP 722C) (opens in a new tab) provides information on: 

  • establishing airspace restrictions
  • managing airspace restrictions
  • issuing permission for drone and other unmanned aircraft operation within a Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ) 

It includes guidance for operators of unmanned aircraft on how to establish an airspace restriction to facilitate their operations. 

If an unmanned aircraft operator or remote pilot believes their request for permission to fly in an FRZ is turned down unreasonably, they can tell us using an Airspace Access Report.
