5.10 The use of drones (Remotely Piloted Aircraft, or Remotely Piloted Air
Systems (RPAS)) by the general public at Flying Displays poses a
possible safety risk to aircraft and must not be permitted.
5.11 Consideration must be given to raising public awareness of their legal
responsibility and the importance of compliance.

(a) The RAE(PC) application is assessed by the CAA RPAS Sector Team in the
following manner:
(1) The application forms and relevant documents are examined for
completeness and correctness – also known as ‘desktop assessment’

addition, the CAA will be contributing to phase 3 of the Autonomous
Systems Technology Related Airborne Evaluation & Assessment
(ASTRAEA) programme, and also to Project CLAIRE (Civil Airspace
Integration of RPAS in Europe), a SESAR JU sponsored project aimed
at demonstrating the safe flight of a UAS within Controlled Airspace.
