Part -FCL
Appendix 9 to UK Regulation (EU) No 1178/2011, third subparagraph of Section A point 1
reads as follows:
The training, skill test or proficiency check for class or type ratings for SPA and
helicopters shall be conducted in:
a) an available and accessible FFS, or
b) a combination of FSTD(s) and the aircraft if an FFS is not available or
accessible, or
c) the aircraft if no FSTD is available or accessible.

General Authorisation
3) The Civil Aviation Authority (“the CAA”), pursuant to paragraph 3 of Chapter 1 and paragraph 4
of Chapter 2 of Part 3 within Schedule 8 to the Air Navigation Order 2016 (“the Order”) hereby
authorises in accordance with Article 269:
(a) Any holder of a flight instructor or class rating instructor certificate issued by the CAA who
has the provision on their licence in accordance with FCL.945 of Annex 1 (Part-FCL) to UK
Regulation (EU) No 1178/2011; or
(b) Any holder of a flight examiner or class rating examiner certificate issued by the CAA in
accordance with Subpart K (Examiners) Annex 1, to UK Regulation (EU) No 1178/2011;
to sign a certificate of revalidation of a licence issued in accordance with the Order, for a SEP,
TMG or microlight aeroplanes class ratings.
