Standard Instrument Arrival Route (STAR) Truncation Policy

This Policy Statement presents CAA policy and guidance regarding STAR truncation requirements and Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) actions required to truncate existing STARs. Truncation may be undertaken when an ANSP determines that operational and/or environmental efficiencies can be achieved by reducing the length of the procedure without change to the existing track over the ground and actual vertical profiles below 7000’ above mean sea level (amsl).
