This report sets out the Environmental Research and Consultancy Department (ERCD) position on the confidence that can be placed in aircraft noise modelling at low exposure levels, updating and replacing ERCD Report 1006. Commissioned by the Department for Transport (DfT), it examines the lowest noise levels that can be reliably estimated using the ANCON model, the factors contributing to increasing uncertainty at those levels, and the extent to which current and future developments in measurement and modelling may improve confidence.
