European UAS Regulatory Framework (EASA NPA 2017-05) overview

This document aims to provide readers, particularly those who are less familiar with the layout/structure of European aviation regulatory documents, with an outline of the NPA and a simple explanation of the general intent behind the key parts of the proposed regulation.

The NPA is, in simple terms, a public consultation document for which all citizens of the EU are entitled to pass comment on. NPA 2017-05 covers the introduction of European Regulations for unmanned aircraft (drones).
