• End of EU exit Transition Period – SOLI transfers

From 1 January 2021, the legal basis for transferring licences and medical certificate between member states no longer applies in the UK. Therefore, the process for new State of Licence Issue (SOLI) transfers in and out of the UK have ceased.

    • Some late SOLI-out applications received before 31 December 2020 will be processed by us, but the CAA cannot guarantee that receiving states will complete the process. Applicants in this position should liaise with the state to which they have applied. If the process does not complete, the applicants will not have transferred and therefore become UK PART FCL licence holders and will need to complete the process with an EU state as a ‘3rd country’ licence/medical certificate holder.

    • Some late SOLI-in applications received before 31 December 2020 will be processed by us after 1 January 2021. If they meet the necessary requirements, the applicants will be issued with a UK PART-MED medical certificate. If the applications are incomplete and are rejected, the applicant will remain with the originating EU State of Licence Issue.
