Specific Assurance and Integrity Levels (SAIL)

For OA applications at SAIL 1 and SAIL 2, the OA applicant should use a RAE(F) depending on the adopted ground risk mitigation measures and applicable containment requirements set out below.

Ground risk mitigation measures

OA applicants should use a RAE(F) if the following ground risk mitigation measures are applied:

  1. If the OA Applicant intends to operate a UAS weighing above 25kg, the OA Applicant should validate the mitigation measures M1A.C2.L.I and M1A.C2.L.A (Evaluation of penetration hazard) through a RAE(F).
  2. If the OA Applicant intends to apply any of the following M2 mitigation measures, they should validate these mitigation measures through a RAE(F):
  • M2.C1.M.I – Effects of UA impact dynamics are reduced (Technical design)
  • M2.C1.H.I – Effects of UA impact dynamics are reduced (Technical design)
  • M2.C2.M.I – Effects of UA impact dynamics are reduced (Procedures)
  • M2.C1.M.A – Effects of UA impact dynamics are reduced (Technical design)
  • M2.C1.H.A – Effects of UA impact dynamics are reduced (Technical design)
  • M2.C2.M.A – Effects of UA impact dynamics are reduced (Procedures)
  • M2.C2.H.A – Effects of UA impact dynamics are reduced (Procedures)

Containment requirements

OA applicants should use a RAE(F) for the following containment requirements:

  • COR.C1.H.I – Operational volume containment
  • COR.C1.M.A – Operational volume containment
  • COR.C1.H.A – Operational volume containment
  • COR.C2.M.A – End of flight upon exit of the operational volume
  • COR.C2.H.A – End of flight upon exit of the operational volume
  • COR.C4.M.I – Ground risk buffer containment
  • COR.C4.L.A – Ground risk buffer containment
  • COR.C4.M.A – Ground risk buffer containment
  • COR.C4.H.A – Ground risk buffer containment
