This publication describes a review that was undertaken by the Environmental Research and Consultancy Department (ERCD) of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on changes in the numbers of aircraft movements, aircraft fleet mix and noise quota usage at Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted airports between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2022.The study was initially commissioned by the Department for Transport (DfT) to understand the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on aircraft operations and the possible knock-on effect on noise around the airports.
