CAA approval ATC Training Organisations
An ATC training organisation is an organisation which has been certified by the CAA to provide one or more types of training. These include ATCO Initial, Unit and Continuation Training, together with Assessor and Practical Instructor training.
All ATC Units are also certificated ATC Training Organisations (TO) approved to provide Unit and Continuation training.
Organisations can also be certificated to provide initial training for the purpose of issuing a student ATC licence.
The current UK certificated Initial Training Organisations (ITOs), together with their approved training courses are shown below.
Global Aviation Training Services (ATS) Ltd
Global ATS is approved by the CAA to provide the following types of air traffic control training courses:
Initial Training
- Basic training course
- Aerodrome Control Instrument (ADI) rating course
- Approach Control Procedural (APP) rating course
- Approach Control Surveillance (APS) rating course
Licence endorsements
- Practical Instructor (On the Job Training Instructor (OJTI) and Synthetic Training Device Instructor (STDI) training course
- Practical Instructor (OJTI & STDI) refresher training courses
- Assessor training course
- Assessor refresher training course
English Language Proficiency
- Global is approved to to conduct English Language Proficiency assessments for Air Traffic Controllers at all levels of the ICAO language proficiency rating scale.
English Language Assessor (ELA) Course
- Upon successful completion of this course the assessor will be able to assess at all levels of English Language proficiency for Air Traffic Controllers in accordance with the ICAO language proficiency rating Scale.
NATS
NATS is approved by the CAA to provide the following types of air traffic control training courses:
Initial Training
- Basic training course
- Aerodrome Control Instrument (ADI) rating course

- Area Control Surveillance (ACS) rating course
