SD-2023/001: Grounding of all Freefly Astro Aircraft
The purpose of this Safety Directive was to temporarily ground all affected aircraft – Freefly Astro UAS – due to an in-flight software failure causing a crash and an ongoing investigation to determine the root cause by the manufacturer.Version 2 updated the references the SD is issued in accordance with: UK Reg (EU) 2019/947 Article 19 and Air Navigation Order 2016 Article 257

UK Civil Aviation Authority publish The Paramotor Code
Michael MacDonald, Co-Head of General Aviation and RPAS Unit at the UK Civil Aviation Authority, said: “Although flying a paramotor or powered hang glider does not require a pilot licence or any form of airworthiness certification, pilots must comply with rules of the air such as keeping above the minimum heights/distances from people and property, taking off/landing well clear of congested areas and not operating in controlled airspace.
