Guidance to consumers impacted by Heathrow Airport incident– 21 March 2025

Heathrow Airport is closed today due to a fire at a nearby electrical substation, affecting the supply of power to its terminals. Unfortunately, this means that today’s flights to and from the airport have been cancelled. The knock-on effect may also lead to delays and further cancellations over the weekend.

This report is an update on recent work and findings in the field of aircraft noise and health effects. It covers published research and findings published during the past six months (March – September 2022).

The aim of the report is to provide a succinct overview of new work relating to aviation noise and health and it is intended that such updates will be published on a six-monthly basis.
