This report is a 17 page summary of the highlights from two unpublished technical reports which detail measurement and analysis of trials of Continuous Decent and Low Power/Low Drag approach procedures at London (Heathrow) Airport in early 1977. It comprises the effect upon environmental noise, fuel economy and runway capacity, and it gives the success rate in achieving the new type of approach, and the factors which seem to have influenced the new type of approach. The two procedures, CDA and LP/LD, are shown to be beneficial and jointly achievable as a single approach procedure.
