How to become an approved design organisation

The detailed requirements for Approved Procedure Design Organisations are set out in CAP 785 - Approval Requirements for Instrument Flight Procedures for Use in UK Airspace.

All the necessary evidence, together with the appropriate fee, should be submitted using either DAP 1914 - Application Form for Individual Approval or DAP 1915 - Application Form for Organisation Approval.

An initial desktop assessment of the application will be conducted and if satisfactory, will lead to a formal on-site audit to confirm an applicant's ability to deliver the service to the required standard. Following a successful audit, applicants will be granted an approval to design Instrument Flight Procedures for use in the UK Flight Information Region (FIR).

Details of the charges payable for approval can be found in the Official Record Series 5 - CAA Scheme of Charges (Instrument Flight Procedures).
