The presence of emerging aviation technologies is an expanding area of aviation and includes vehicles such as Unmanned Aviation Systems (UAS) which are also known as drones , and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) aircraft, including air taxis, sometimes referred to as Unmanned Aerial vehicles (UAVs) and electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing vehicles (eVTOLs). This new technology has several potential uses, for example aerial mapping and photography, military surveillance, search and rescue, delivery, and air taxis amongst many others. This presents new challenges for noise legislation and understanding of how these types of noise sources may impact people on the ground. This report provides a concise overview of the current knowledge on the impacts of aviation noise from such new technologies on humans over the past year 2024 to March 2025.
