The CAA provides the following services to enable same day and expedited processing of personnel licensing applications:
Same day over-the-counter appointment – applicant attends Aviation House, where their application will be processed on the day with the licence/certificate collected upon completion.
Same day remote appointment – applicant chooses to either be available via telephone / email for queries or have their application processed face-to-face via a virtual meeting with a licensing officer. Licence/certificate can either be despatched or made available for collection.
Expedite – applicant / operating company can request the expedited processing of an application, with the assessment completed within 3 working days. Licence/certificate can either be despatched or made available for collection.
How to make an appointment
To book a service, please call 0330 022 1922 between 08:30-16:30, Monday to Friday
Appointments can be booked up to one month in advance and, subject to availability, up to 24 hours before it is needed. Applications must be submitted at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. The full terms and conditions of the service will be supplied at the time of booking.
Appointments last on average 45 minutes, with slots available from 08:30 – 15:00, Monday to Friday. Applicants who attend the counter without a prior booking will only be provided with an appointment on the day if there is availability and will be subject to an additional charge.
Applications available for same day and expedite appointments
Flight Crew Licensing:
- Addition, renewal or revalidation of a type or class rating – including night, instructor, IR, and IRR privileges
- Removal of a restriction – including instructor privileges
- Revalidation or renewal of a flight crew licence
- Change of personal details and replacement
Part-66:
- Renewal
- Type rating (excluding ratings requiring OJT or an oral examination)
- Change of details and replacement

If you are making an application based on an ICAO licence, you will need to ensure the CAA has received the verification of this licence in advance of your appointment. Any pilot who holds an e-licensing portal account and is making a new e-licensing application, must ensure that all documentation for the application has been correctly uploaded onto the portal in the correct sections and the application submitted prior to their appointment.
Where the service to be applied for requires the submission of an online application form (Avoka), please ensure that this is submitted prior to booking your appointment.
