    Sandbox participants

    We have and are collaborating with 12 innovative companies:

    Altitude Angel

    A company providing innovative solutions for airspace, unlocking the potential of unmanned aircraft to fly in airspace across the world.


    We are working with Amazon on their Prime Air project, a planned delivery system designed to safely and quickly get packages to customers using unmanned aerial vehicles or drones.


    Boeing will perform a series of test flights to explore the requirements for transitioning to BVLOS operations in non-segregated airspace, including requirements for a Detect and Avoid capability

    Eve Urban Air Mobility Solutions (Eve)

    A consortium of urban air mobility and aviation companies led by Eve has commenced work on a concept of operations for integrating air taxis and electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOLs) into the UK’s airspace.


    The project with Flylogix will enable safe operation of unmanned aircraft in open airspace alongside other airspace users providing services for the offshore energy industry.


    We are working with air traffic control body NATS, to implement new technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital air traffic control towers.

    NBEC Consortium

    The NBEC Team (Cranfield University, Blue Bear Systems Research, Thales and Vodafone) are creating an experimentation centre that will enable drones and unmanned aircraft to have their locations tracked so that they can safely fly in the same airspace as manned aircraft.


    Innovation foundation Nesta’s Flying High programme aims to maximise the economic and social benefits of drone technology to UK cities. They are working to challenge and develop sustainable drone systems to create a safe, innovative future.


    A company that is developing a solution that will enable drone service providers to remotely deliver services on industrial sites from a central control room.


    This company which specialises in operating end-to-end drone deliveries within the medical, e-commerce and logistics sectors, is exploring the use of computer-vision-based Detect and Avoid (DAA) technology for Beyond Visual Of Sight (BVLOS) operations.

    Trax International (Trax)

    Trax is working alongside ANRA Technologies, uAvionix, and Plane Finder to demonstrate Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in non-segregated airspace.


    We are working with Volocopter, a company developing electrically powered urban air taxis to help modern cities solve their increasing mobility issues.

    We are working closely with these companies to help them develop their projects so that they meet the UK’s exacting safety standards and the CAA’s regulatory requirements.

    We will be recruiting more participants for onboarding through the year, and we would love to hear more about your organisation, your innovation, and how we could help you.
