UK Civil Aviation Regulations

All parachute dropping carried out from civil registered aircraft over the UK is regulated by the CAA and must be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Air Navigation Order.

CAP 660 Parachuting is a comprehensive source of information containing rules, regulations and guidance on:

CAP 403 Flying Displays and Special Events: Safety and Administrative Requirements and Guidance includes further information in relation to parachuting as part of a Flying Display or event. British Skydiving has published guidance including The British Skydiving Operations Manual ,which details an acceptable standard of operating.

Applying for the grant or renewal of Parachuting Permission

SRG1313 Application for Grant or Renewal of Parachuting Permission, together with the appropriate fee should be completed and sent to the appropriate address as quoted on the form.

At present, all parachuting clubs and teams work through the British Parachute Association (BPA). Applicants not wishing to apply to the BPA should apply directly to the CAA using SRG1313, attaching it to an email and sending it to ga@caa.co.uk.

How much notice do we need?

The minimum notice required by the CAA before a parachuting permission and any related exemptions can be granted is 42 working days from the receipt of application.
