How to make an ATOL claim

The ATOL scheme protects you from losing money or becoming stranded abroad if your travel company collapses. You may be able to make a claim under the scheme if:

  • You have booked a holiday that you are due to take in the future, but the travel company that has since collapsed.
  • Your travel company has collapsed while you are on holiday, meaning your holiday has been disrupted or your flight home cancelled.

We maintain a list of travel companies which have collapsed, where you will find up-to-date information about your travel company and how to claim. Each travel company’s situation is different, so it is important you read this information carefully.

If you are currently in the UK and booked on a future holiday:
  • If you were given an ATOL Certificate when you booked, read it carefully – it explains your protection and what to do. 
  • As long as your holiday is protected, you will not lose out. We will make sure you receive a full refund. 
  • You will have to fill in a form to make a claim. The information about your particular travel company will explain how to do this.


 

If you are currently on holiday:  
  • If you were given an ATOL Certificate when you booked, read it carefully – it explains your protection and what to do.
  • We will do everything possible to ensure you can finish and enjoy your holiday without disruption.

General Claims Settling Policy

The Air Travel Trust Fund (ATTF) is the primary source of funding when an ATOL holder fails and monies from the ATTF are used to meet refund and repatriation costs arising from a failure.  The Fund is administered on behalf of the Air Travel Trust (ATT) by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Are you covered?

ATOL protection applies to most air holidays abroad that are booked with UK travel companies. If you are covered by ATOL, your travel company should have given you an ATOL Certificate when you booked.
