Val-Ski Ltd - ATOL 5888 ceased trading on 13th March 2019

The company based in Tavistock, traded under the names Val Ski and Ski Val Ltd and website www.skival.co.uk.

The following information is for ATOL protected bookings.  You can tell if your booking is ATOL protected by the documents issued to you at the time you booked.  ATOL holders are required to issue ATOL Certificates and ATOL confirmations (for package bookings).

Flight arrangements

If you are currently overseas and you hold a schedule flight e-ticket for flight BA 2619 LYS-LGW on 16th March 2019, the flight remains valid for the return journey. You are advised to check-in with the airline as per their existing flight ticket.

If you are currently overseas and are due to travel on flight BA8589 FDH-LGW on 17th March 2019, the CAA has secured your return flights and you will be able to return to the UK as per your original booking.

Do not make your own arrangements to return home as you will not be able to claim for reimbursement. 

Accommodation and other tourist service arrangements for consumers currently overseas

The CAA is speaking to the overseas providers to guarantee the services you booked so you do not experience any issue.  If you are made to pay again for services that were part of your original trip, please ensure that you retain a clear receipt showing, the method of payment; as this is required for your claim. If you pay in cash, you must obtain a cash receipt as you cannot make a claim without this. 

There is a helpline for consumers currently overseas. The telephone number is 0333 103 6350. Costs cannot be refunded for calling the helpline.

If you only booked Accommodation with the failed ATOL holder your booking is not ATOL protected.

Consumers due to travel from 16th March 2019 onward

If you have flight tickets, the flight may be valid, passengers are advised to check with the airline first. If the airline confirms you have a valid ticket for travel, you have two options:

Option 1. If you do not wish to use your flight, you can make a claim for a refund for the amount you paid for your Val-Ski Ltd's ATOL Protected package (depending upon your original method of payment).  Also applicable for passengers with non-valid flights.

Option 2.  You can use your flight but the other services included in your booking (fully serviced chalet and in resort representatives and hosts) are no longer available and you will be required to book and pay for alternative services.  You claim for the cost of replacing these will depend upon your original method of payment.

If you choose to travel, you must book a like for like alternative, as the original services will not be available. Claims cannot exceed the total cost of the original ATOL package booking.

Please note that if you choose to travel and use your valid flight, you are not protected under The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018, as your package travel provider has ceased to trade.  You will therefore be responsible for any risks arising from each individual element of your trip which would have previously been protected.

Methods of Payment

Package bookings made directly with Val-Ski Ltd

If you paid for your original trip by credit card to Val-Ski Ltd, your claim will be with the credit card provider.  If you are choosing to travel, you should check with your credit card provider prior to travelling to establish what your claim entitlement amount is. You will only be entitled to claim for any replacement costs from ATOL up to the cost of your original trip less the amount originally paid by credit card.

If you paid for your original trip by credit card and other methods to Val-Ski Ltd, your claim will be with the credit card provider for the portion you paid by credit card, and the CAA for payments by other methods.  If you are choosing to travel, you should check with your credit card provider prior to travelling to establish what your claim entitlement amount is. You will only be entitled to claim for any replacement costs from ATOL up to the cost of your original trip less the amount originally paid by credit card. If you do not travel you will be entitled to claim for the payments by credit card from your credit card provider and the other methods of payment from ATOL

If you paid for your original trip by any method other than credit card to Val-Ski Ltd, your claim will be with ATOL. If you choose to travel and pay again to replace elements of your original booking, you will be entitled to claim for any replacement costs from ATOL.  If you do not travel you will be entitled to claim from ATOL.

Package bookings made with an agent of Val-Ski Ltd

If you paid for your original trip by any method to an agent of Val-Ski Ltd, your claim will be with ATOL. If you choose to travel and pay again to replace elements of your original booking, you will be entitled to claim for any replacement costs from ATOL.  If you do not travel you will be entitled to claim from ATOL. 

Travel Agents Information

If you are a travel agent of Val-Ski Ltd and you are currently holding consumer payments which you have not yet paid to Val-Ski Ltd, you are advised not to refund consumers with these funds until you have received instructions from the Air Travel Trust.  Travel agents will be individually contacted by the CAA with specific instructions for these bookings.
