* EASA will provide a 2 year transitional period from the entry into force date to allow existing approved organisations time to implement and develop an SMS that is effective. For new applicants, after entry into force, they will need to have all the key elements of an SMS in place before an Approval is issued (passed a CAA Phase 1 SMS assessment) and will need to have an effective SMS within one year of their approval being issued (passed a CAA phase 2 SMS assessment).
**A and B rated maintenance organisations that are directly contracted to the operator.
