Yes. If you held a valid UK Class 1 ATCO certificate and a valid JAA class 1 or 2 within the last 5 years you can have one medical examination for both certificates. However, if you have never held a JAA Class 1 certificate and you want to fly professionally you will need to attend the Aeromedical Centre at Aviation House, Gatwick for an initial JAA Class 1 examination. For private flying your AME can issue an initial JAA Class 2 certificate based on your European Class 3 medical examination and will inform the CAA when they submit the medical examination report.
