FAQ Answer

FAQ Answer

I am a professional/private pilot as well as an ATCO; can I have one medical examination for both?

Yes. If you held a valid UK Class 1 ATCO certificate and a valid Class 1 or 2 within the last 5 years you can have one medical examination for both certificates. However, if you have never held a Class 1 certificate and you want to fly professionally you will need to attend an Aeromedical Centre at Gatwick, Horley or NATS for an initial Class 1 examination. For private flying your AME can issue an initial Class 2 certificate based on your European Class 3 medical examination and will inform the CAA when they submit the medical examination report.
