The CAA is committed to introducing a more appropriate level of regulation for general aviation (GA), in line with its statutory duties to ensure the safety of those who are involved with aviation activities. To drive its new approach to GA regulation the CAA is consulting on an overall policy for the sector that will be used as the basis for its decision-making when regulating the GA community.

The consultation introduced and requested feedback on the policy framework that the CAA proposed to use when developing all new policies or reviewing existing policies for GA in the UK, as well as when the CAA negotiates in Europe, that may impact on third parties.
Overall responses were supportive of the need to have a GA policy framework.
Used properly, the CAA will be able to balance delivery of its new GA agenda with its statutory duties.
