Consultation - CAA Strategic Plan 2011-16, Consumer Policy and Work Programme, Safety Plan and Environment Programme

In 2011, we published the CAA Strategic Plan for 2011-2016. Now, at just over the half way point through that period, we have updated the strategy to reflect progress, new challenges and opportunities, and changes to our statutory responsibilities. We are consulting on the contents of the updated strategy, in addition to publishing for consultation more detailed plans for three of our strategic objectives.

In 2011, we published the CAA Strategic Plan for 2011-16.  Now, at just over the half way point through that period, we have updated the strategy to reflect progress, new challenges and opportunities, and changes to our statutory responsibilities.  We are consulting on the contents of the updated strategy, and would value your views.

The Strategic Plan is published on the CAA website here.  The consultation will run until 18 April 2014.

In addition, we are today publishing for consultation more detailed plans for three of our strategic objectives.

  • The CAA Safety Plan sets out how we propose to enhance aviation safety performance.

  • Our Consumer Programme sets out how we will improve choice, value and fair treatment for aviation consumers.

  • And CAA and the Environment is our refreshed programme of work to improve environmental performance.

Our purpose in publishing these documents together is to provide a full account of how we will be carrying out our work to 2016 and beyond.  We would welcome your organisation's views on any or all of these plans by 18 April 2014 via the website link provided.

Yours sincerely

Andrew Haines

  • Summary of Responses to the consultation on the CAA Draft Strategic Plan.
  • Since we published this five-year strategic plan in 2011, we have made considerable progress against our objectives, and seen significant changes and developments in the industry and activities we regulate.  CAP 1092 is an updated version of the strategy that describes what we have achieved, what is left to do in the remaining two years of the plan, and some of the new challenges and issues to which we will be responding.
  • Safety Plan 2014-16
