National Airworthiness Review Certificates (N ARC)

Guidance for applicants

All national aircraft registered in the UK and operating on a National Certificate of Airworthiness (CofA) are issued with a non-expiring CofA supported by a National Airworthiness Review Certificate (N ARC).

N ARCs are valid for 12 months. Before your N ARC expires, you need to ensure that a new N ARC is issued or if the appropriate requirements are met that the current N ARC is extended in order to allow flight to continue legally.

Who can apply

Organisations or individuals wishing to carry out design, manufacture, certification, maintenance, continuing airworthiness management and flight testing of national aircraft.

How to apply

Replacement certificates

In cases where an approval certificate has been lost or damaged and a replacement is required, a request for a replacement must be submitted in writing to CAA Applications and Approvals. A document change fee will apply in accordance with the current CAA Scheme of Charges.
