Short Term Approvals/Exemptions

UK Operators flying anywhere in the world and foreign Operators flying within UK airspace are all subject to the requirements concerning the carriage of weapons and munitions of war (EU-OPS, JAR-OPS 3 or Articles 133 and 134 of the Air Navigation Dangerous Goods Regulations 2002 (AN(DG)Rs and the requirements for dangerous goods (EU-OPS, JAR-OPS 3 and the AN(DG)Rs.

These require, inter alia, that munitions of war and dangerous goods may only be carried by air providing the operator has obtained the written permission, approval or an exemption from the CAA.
Applications for Approvals in relation to the AN(DG)Rs 2002, Dangerous Goods, Weapons and Munitions of War, or the Technical Instructions should be sent to the CAA’s Dangerous Goods Office.

Applications for an approval or exemption should be made at least 10 working days before the date of the flight on which the dangerous goods are to be carried.

Applying for Exemption to carry Class 1 Dangerous Goods

Complete CAA Form SRG 2804, submit the appropriate fee using Payment Form SRG 2812 and send to the Dangerous Goods Office. Details of costs can be found in the CAA Scheme of Charges - Air Operator and Police Air Operator Certificates.

Applying for Approval/Exemption to carry Dangerous Goods (other than Class 1)

Complete CAA Form SRG 2805, submit the appropriate fee using Payment Form SRG 2812 and send to the Dangerous Goods Office. Details of costs can be found in the CAA Scheme of Charges - Air Operator and Police Air Operator Certificates.

Applying for Approval to carry Lithium Cells/Batteries

CAA Form SRG 2817, together with the appropriate fee, should be sent to the Dangerous Goods Office. Details of costs can be found in the CAA Scheme of Charges - Air Operator and Police Air Operator Certificates.

Non-expiring Approvals

Applying for Approval to carry Dangerous Goods - UK Registered aircraft

Complete CAA Form SRG 2807, submit the appropriate fee using Payment Form SRG 2812 and send to the Dangerous Goods Office. Details of costs can be found in the CAA Scheme of Charges - Air Operator and Police Air Operator Certificates.

Applying for Approval to carry Dangerous Goods - Foreign Registered aircraft

Complete CAA Form SRG 2806, submit the appropriate fee using Payment Form SRG 2812 and send to the Dangerous Goods Office. Details of costs can be found in the CAA Scheme of Charges - Air Operator and Police Air Operator Certificates.

Applying for Approval/Exemption to overfly the UK with Dangerous Goods and/or Munitions of War
