Staff and Services

Guidance for service providers and staff at airports

In addition to inspecting airport infrastructure, the CAA works closely with airport operations staff to ensure the safety and efficiency of ground services through the Ground Handling Operations Safety Team (GHOST).

The regulation of Rescue and Fire Fighting Services includes the approval of RFFS Training Providers and the development of best practice in RFFS activities. A Toolkit is provided to assist with this.

Our role also involves issuing airport staff with the authority to prevent an unsafe aircraft from flying.

The policy underpinning these important activities is developed by the CAA in cooperation with various national and international professional organisations, and our work has been influential in agreeing EASA and ICAO requirements.
