Pilot recognition for operational up-skililng and development (PROUD)
We have launched a new initiative to encourage existing licence holders to develop their flying skills and knowledge. We will endorse training programmes offered by GA organisations providing they fit within our agreed framework.
Minimum inspection programme (MIP)
Alternative training syllabus
An alternative to the existing European Aviation Safety Agency syllabus is now available for training for the PPL (A) and LAPL(A). The new syllabus is more suited to today’s flying environment. We also consulted all the helicopter private pilot training schools in the country and their feedback resulted in a minor change to the PPL(H) syllabus as an alternative.
Transfer of an Annex II General Aviation Aircraft from a Certificate of Airworthiness to a Permit to Fly
The CAA has long recognised there is a lack of type support for some vintage aircraft. This guidance will help owners who can make use of the reduced level of airworthiness assurance associated with the maintenance regimes and the potentially greater accessibility to spare parts for Permit to Fly aircraft.
