Flight Crew Ground Examinations

Information on sitting Flight Crew Ground Examinations

The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has introduced electronic examinations (e-Exams) for Flight Crew Licences to replace the paper-based examinations system.  The programme will cover all examinations taken by applicants for UK and European (Part-FCL) professional pilot licences and Instrument Ratings.

Prior to sitting any Licensing examination candidates are required to read all of the documents contained in the 'Candidate Examination Guidance' section on this page.

From 31 January 2015 CAP documents will no longer be required for UKCAA exams 

As of the 31 January 2015, CAP documents will not be provided or allowed for any UKCAA examinations.

Any required tables and graphs that are needed to answer questions will be included in the exam workbooks.

Candidates who have already received their 'Exam Booking Confirmation' form for examinations to be sat after the 31 January 2015, should ignore any CAP documents listed under Supplied Material. Any questions should be directed to your Approved Training Organisations (ATO).

Any candidates 'exempt formal training' with an ATO should contact: FCL-EExams@caa.co.uk
