Equipment and Interoperability Requirements arise from the Single European Sky Interoperability Requirements and other sources such as ICAO SARPs.
Aeronautical Radio Stations also have to meet the WT Act Licensing requirements as for any radio transmitting station and the Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive (R&TTED) 1999/5/EC which applies to all radio communication equipment. Software has particular Requirements including EC 482/2008. Equipment Requirements are generally included in CAP 670. The ANO currently still applies to equipment approvals.

FIS units should also consult CAP 427 Flight Information Services and the FISO Licence, which provides details of minimum levels of equipment and recording of RTC communications.
