Information for organisations wishing to become an Approved Training Provider
Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (RFFS) personnel are required to have a current Certificate of Competence appropriate to their task and role (CAP 168 Licensing of Aerodromes, Chapter 8, Section 6, para 6.6 refers).
Certificates of Competence can be issued by an Approved Training Provider (ATP). CAP 699 Standards for the Competence of RFFS Personnel, Chapter 2 makes provision for the approval of training providers.
The CAA is responsible for granting approval to, and maintaining oversight of, organisations who wish to deliver Initial and/or Revalidation Structured Learning Programmes (SLP) to RFFS personnel.
Applicants will find the documents below to be a useful source of information regarding the organisation, design, delivery and evaluation of training.
Step 1 – In the first instance you may wish to have an informal discussion with a member of the team who will be able to explain the approval process and help you with any questions you may have. Please use the contact details below.
Step 2 – Complete the ATP Application Form (SRG 2008) and submit to the address below along with the appropriate fees (see CAA Scheme of Charges, Aerodrome Licensing and Aerodrome Air Traffic Services Regulation, for details of applicable fees).
Step 3 – Submit supportive documentation for assessment. This includes ATP Manual, SLP syllabi, quality assurance arrangements, SLP materials (lesson plans, presentations, student notes, question banks etc). Subject to the outcome of the document assessment, a provisional approval to deliver an SLP may be given.
Step 4 – A site visit will be arranged to inspect the resources provided for the design, delivery, evaluation and control of training and assessments. Subject to the outcome of a site visit a Certificate of Approval may be issued.
NOTE: The same process should be followed by existing ATPs who wish to apply for an additional SLP or to deliver training at an additional site.
