The licence entitles you to exercise certification privileges on a specific aircraft type.

Pre-requisites

You must hold an EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence.

You must ensure that the relevant theoretical and practical type training has been conducted within an approved 147 organisation.

If Part-147 Theoretical & Practical Type Course has been conducted, and is a 2nd type rating of the same or similar manufacturer then no detailed maintenance experience records and No OJT/logbook or worksheet experience is necessary.

However if a Part-147 Theoretical & Practical Type Course is conducted and it is the 1st type rating you will be required to provide practical maintenance experience on the aircraft type, which has been conducted within a Part 145 maintenance organisation. As a guide 4 months is considered acceptable.

The 147 Certificate of Recognition(s) are valid for 3 years from the Date the course commenced.

Cost

The cost for each Type rating is £131.00.

There will also be a rolling renewal fee applicable that will need to be calculated.

An additional fee will be payable if you wish your documents to be returned by secure courier.

Processing time

We will endeavour to process applications within 10 working days.

Validity period

The licence is valid for 5 years from the issue date.

You will need to provide

• SRG 1014 Application form 
• SRG 1187 Payment form 
• Original EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence
• Copies of Approved 147 type Training Certificate(s) of Recognition covering both theoretical and practical (front sheet)
• Evidence of practical maintenance experience in the form of logbook/worksheets or OJT.  Only applicable if Part 147 Theoretical & practical Type Course and 1st type rating.

You must ensure that copies of all documents are certified as true copies by your Quality manager or the most senior person within the organisation.

What to expect

• Once we receive your application, an Initial assessment will be completed by a Licensing Officer.
• If the application is a Part-147 Theoretical & Practical Type Course (1st type rating) then the application is sent to our Approvals team for the technical assessment to be conducted by one of our Surveyors on the L&TS Approvals team.
• If the application is successful the licence will be signed by a Licensing Officer and dispatched.
• If the application is unsuccessful, you will be contacted by letter or email.  At this stage the application can either be cancelled or be placed in pending awaiting additional documentation to be submitted.
• If the application is a Part-147 Theoretical & practical Type Course (2nd type rating of the same manufacturer) then the application will be signed off by a Licensing Officer and it is not required to be sent to a Surveyor.
• The licence will then be signed by a 2nd Licensing officer and dispatched.
