Addition of a Category or Sub Category to EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence

Guidance for Applicants

Application for addition of a Category or Sub Category to an EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence to permit the holder to issue certificates of release to service applicable to the Category/Sub Category applied for.

Pre-requisites


You must hold an EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence.

When extending the Part 66 Licence you are required to complete the relevant modules applicable to the Category/Sub Category you are applying for.

You will be required to have a minimum civil aircraft maintenance experience requirement appropriate to the additional category or sub category of licence applied for as defined in Annex III, Appendix IV.

The experience requirement will be reduced by 50% if you have completed an approved Part 147 course relevant to the subcategory applied for.

Cost

The fee for this service is £320.00. (a further fee could be applicable if also applying for any Type Ratings)

There will be a rolling renewal fee applicable that will need to be calculated.

An additional fee will be payable if you wish your documents to be returned by secure courier.

Processing time


We will endeavour to process applications within 10 working days from date of receipt.


Validity period


The licence will be valid for 5 years from the date of issue.

You must ensure that copies of all documents are certified as true copies by your Quality Manager or the most senior person within the organisation.

What to expect

  • Once we receive your application, an Initial assessment will be completed by a Licensing Officer.
  • The application is then sent to the Approvals team for the technical assessment to be conducted by one of our Surveyors.
  • If the application is successful, the licence will be signed by a licensing officer and dispatched.
  • If the application is unsuccessful, you will be contacted by letter or email.  At this stage the application will either be cancelled or placed in pending to await for additional documentation to be submitted.
