Addition of the Category C to EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maitenance Licence

Guidance for Applicants

Application for the addition of the Category C onto an EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence to permit the holder to issue certificates of Release to service following base maintenance on aircraft.  The privileges apply to the aircraft in its entirety in a part 145 organisation.

Pre-requisites

You must hold an EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence

For Category C with respect to large aircraft:

  • You will need 3 years experience exercising category B1.1, B1.3 or B2 privileges on large aircraft or 5 years experience of exercising category B1.2 or B1.4 privileges on large aircraft.

For Category C with respect to other than large aircraft:

  • You will need 3 years experience exercising Category B1 or B2 privileges on other than large aircraft.

Cost

There is no charge for the issue of the Category C.

There will be a rolling renewal fee applicable that will need to be calculated.

An additional fee will be payable if you wish your documents to be returned by secure courier.

Processing time

We will endeavour to process applications within 10 working days from date of receipt.

Validity period

The licence will be valid for 5 years from the issue date.

What to expect

  • Once we receive your application, an assessment will be completed by a Licensing Officer.
  • If successful, the application will be approved by a Licensing Officer.
  • The licence will be signed by a second Licensing Officer and dispatched.
