Initial Application for an EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence

Guidance for Applicants

Application to issue an EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence to permit the holder to issue certificates of Release to service, applicable to the Category/Subcategory applied to the licence.

Pre-requisites

You shall demonstrate by examination a level of knowledge in the appropriate subject modules in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) No 1149/2011, Annex III, Appendix I.  These examinations should be conducted by either the competent authority or an appropriately approved Part 147 training organisation.

You must provide the appropriate years of Aircraft Maintenance experience, for further clarification on this please refer to Commission Regulation (EU) 1149/2011, Annex III, 66.A.30

The experience requirement and modules must be passed and met 10 years preceding the application for the issue of the Aircraft Maintenance Licence.


Cost

The fee for this service is £320.00.

An additional fee will be payable if you wish your documents to be returned by secure courier.


Processing time

We will endeavour to process applications within 10 working days from date of receipt.

Validity period

The licence is valid for 5 years from the issue date.

You will need to provide

  • SRG 1014 Application form
  • SRG 1187 Payment form
  • Copy of Passport
  • Copies of Exam Certificates
  • Copies of Approved 147 Basic Training Course Certificates (if claiming a reduction on the experience requirement)
  • Evidence of practical maintenance experience in the form of logbook/worksheets

You must ensure that copies of all documents are certified as true copies by your Quality Manager or the most senior person within the organisation.

Alternatively you can visit the Public Counter at Aviation House which is open from 08:30-16:30 Monday-Friday.

What to expect

  • Once we receive your application, an Initial assessment will be completed by a Licensing Officer.
  • The application is then sent to the Approvals team for the technical assessment to be conducted by one of our Surveyors.
  • If the application is successful, the licence will be signed by a licensing officer and dispatched.
  • If the application is unsuccessful, you will be contacted by letter or email.  At this stage the application will either be cancelled or be placed in pending to await additional documentation to be submitted.
