EASA Part-M Subpart G

Application and guidance information regarding the EASA Part-M Subpart G Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation Approval-EASA Regulated aircraft

Part M of Regulation (EC) 2042/2003 details the rules for the continuing airworthiness and maintenance of aircraft subject to EASA regulation.

In accordance with Part M, all EASA aircraft types that qualify for an EASA Certificate of Airworthiness (CofA) are issued with a non-expiring CofA, validated annually with an Airworthiness Review Certificate (ARC).

A Part M Subpart G approval is required for ARC validity extensions and an additional Subpart I approval is required for ARC issues, extensions of validity and recommendations for re-issue.

There is a current shortage of Part M Subpart G organisations holding the additional Subpart I approval required for the recommendation of ARC re-issue so the CAA has issued an Exemption allowing Part 145 organisations with A8-3 Supplement 2 approval and BCAR M3 organisations to recommend to the CAA that an ARC be re-issued. This Exemption will be in force until 5 January 2009.

The CAA has produced the following guidance documents to assist those applying for Part M Subpart G Approval.

Applying for Approval (Part M Subpart G or Additional ARC Privileges)

EASA Form 2 - Part-M Subpart G, together with the appropriate fee, should be sent to the Applications and Approvals Department. Details of costs can be found in the CAA Scheme of Charges - Airworthiness, Noise Certification and Aircraft and Aircraft Engine Emissions.

Changes to the Scheme of Charges are in progress to replace the multiple approval fees, which would be levied in April 2009 by a reduced combined fee for smaller organisations. These changes are undergoing consultation at this time.

If application is made concurrently with that for an AOC, the amount due will be collected as part of the AOC charge.

Cancelling an Approval

If an approval cancellation is required, the CAA Applications and Approvals Department should be advised in writing. Please state the effective date of the cancellation. The Approval Certificate must be returned.

Credit/Debit Card Payments

The Applications and Approvals Department are now able to accept Credit and Debit card payments. Please refer to Form SRG 1706 and follow the instructions detailed.

Applying for Maintenance Programme Approval

CAA Form AD981M should be sent to the local Regional Office.

To assist AOC holders, the CAA has produced two compliance check sheets.

  • Form AD 981C - intended for use with approved Maintenance Programmes

  • Form AD 981D - an abridged checklist for AOC holders who have elected to use LAMS as the basis of their Maintenance Programme.
