Aerial work, as described in the Air Navigation Order, means any purpose (other than public transport) for which an aircraft is flown if valuable consideration is given or promised in respect of the purpose of the flight and includes the following:

The Civil Aviation (Aerial Advertising) Regulations 1995 set out the circumstances under which aerial advertising may take place.
Application for foreign registered aircraft to undertake aerial work in the UK should be made to the Department for Transport. Restrictions are detailed in Article 225 of the Air Navigation Order 2009.
