Application and guidance information regading Permit to Fly issues, subsequent issues and renewals

A Permit to Fly issue refers to the validation of an aircraft's first Permit to Fly.

A Permit to Fly subsequent issue is applicable when:

  • The previous UK Permit to Fly expired more than 12 months ago

  • The previous UK Permit to Fly has been revoked or surrendered.

  • The aircraft held a UK Permit to Fly prior to export and has since returned to the UK Register.

  • The aircraft was removed from, and has since been re-registered on, the UK Register.

A Permit to Fly renewal is applicable when the Permit to Fly expires.


 

EASA regulated aircraft

Applying for a Permit to Fly issue

EASA Form 21 (UK), together with the appropriate fee, should be sent to the Applications and Approvals Department. Details of costs can be found in the CAA Scheme of Charges - Airworthiness, Noise Certification and Aircraft and Aircraft Engine Emissions.

CAP 747 - "Mandatory Requirements for Airworthiness" contains the specific list of EASA and non-EASA aircraft types.

An EASA Permit to Fly Flight Release Certificate is also available online.

There are no subsequent issue or renewal processes for an EASA Permit to Fly. For further information, see the EASA website - Permit to Fly.

 


 

CAA regulated aircraft

Applying for a Permit to Fly- Issue or Subsequent Issue

CAA Form SRG 1710, together with the appropriate fee, should be sent to the Applications and Approvals Department. Details of costs can be found in the CAA Scheme of Charges - Airworthiness, Noise Certification and Aircraft and Aircraft Engine Emissions.

Applying for Permit to Fly- Renewal

Non-ex-military aircraft

Complete CAA Form SRG 1711 and provide the following additional information to Applications and Approvals Department:

·         Confirmation that the aircraft has been maintained by an individual who holds a valid PMR authorisation, the individuals name and authorisation number

·         Confirmation that if the aircraft displays military markings, a valid Military Mark Exemption is in force

·         Confirmation that a check flight has been completed and a copy has been sent or will be sent to the Flight Department.  If a National Temporary Permit to Fly for Test is required, please provide details of the proposed dates and location for the flight.

·         The appropriate fee. Details of costs can be found in the CAA Scheme of Charges - Airworthiness, Noise Certification and Aircraft and Aircraft Engine Emissions. 

A8-20 ex-military aircraft over 2730 kg Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW)

CAA Form AD202P, together with the appropriate fee, should be sent to the Applications and Approvals Department. Details of costs can be found in the CAA Scheme of Charges - Airworthiness, Noise Certification and Aircraft and Aircraft Engine Emissions.

A8-20 ex-military aircraft under 2730 kg MTOW

If renewal is to be carried out by an approved organisation, CAA Form AD202P, together with the appropriate fee, should be sent to the Applications and Approvals Department.

If renewal is to carried out by the CAA, CAA Form SRG 1711, together with the appropriate fee, should be sent to the Applications and Approvals Department. Credit/Debit Card Payments

 

The Applications and Approvals Department are now able to accept Credit and Debit card payments. Please refer to Form SRG 1706 and follow the instructions detailed.
