Consultation - Proposed Reform of ATOL Bonding

Following the Government’s decision last year not to proceed with an extension of financial protection to all air travellers departing the UK, the Department for Transport (DfT) asked the CAA to consider whether the current system of bonding might be replaced with a less burdensome way of meeting tour operators’ obligations to consumers.

On the 3rd April the CAA launched an informal consultation on preliminary proposals to replenish the Air Travel Trust Fund and reform ATOL bonding through the introduction of a per-passenger charge.  The consultation period has now ended and a summary of stakeholder responses has been published on this website, along with the individual responses.
