Under the Civil Aviation Act 2012 the CAA has a new set of powers to tailor regulation to suit the specifics of each airport and the needs of their users. The CAA is consulting on its initial proposals for the economic regulation of Gatwick from April 2014.

The CAA will publish its decision on the market power test in January 2014. Assuming that the test is met the CAA will also publish its decision on economic regulation and final notice of the proposed licence in January 2014. The licence and final conditions will be published in February 2014 to come into force on 1 April 2014.
