FAQ Answer

FAQ Answer

How is information scaled to represent actual traffic flows?

Interviews obtained on individual flights are scaled to represent actual monthly traffic movement on that flight. Therefore if 10 interviews are obtained on BA1 during the month of June while 1,000 passengers were recorded as flying on BA1 in the same period, each survey interview would be assigned the weight 1000/10 = 100.

A second stage to the weighting process is introduced to enable survey statistics to reflect a two-way flow. For more information on weighting, including the two-way weight scenario please refers to Methodology.
