Buyers Information in respect of group owned aircraft

If you become a shareholder in a group owned aircraft please ensure that the aircraft is correctly registered to the trustee of the assets of the syndicate you have joined.  This can be done by searching the UK Register database, G-INFO for the registered ownership details of the aircraft in question.  The entry in the registered owner section should clearly state that the aircraft is registered to an individual in their capacity as "Trustee of:....."  If the aircraft is correctly registered in the name of a trustee you do not need to advise the CAA of your shareholding directly but you must ensure that the trustee of your group advises the Aircraft Registration section of the change in the composition of the syndicate.  For further information on what the obligations of the trustee are see Group Ownership.

If the aircraft is not correctly registered in the name of a trustee then the aircraft may need to be re-registered to reflect the new ownership structure.  For further information on how to advise us of a change of ownership please see either Group Ownership or Buyers Information.

If you are in any doubt as to whether your shareholding has been noted please contact the Aircraft Registration Section directly.

Please note that the registration process is separate from the requirements to gain a Certificate of Airworthiness or Permit to Fly.  For information on Certificates of Airworthiness or Permits to Fly please contact the Applications and Approvals Section of the CAA on telephone (01293) 768374 or fax (01293) 573860.   New owners are reminded that once they become the owner of a UK Registered aircraft that they are responsible for ensuring that the aircraft is fully maintained and operated in line with the requirements of the Certificate of Airworthiness or Permit to Fly.

Please note that you may require a radio licence to be issued in respect of this aircraft, please contact Radio Licencing for further details.
