Reference:ORS4 No. 742 Title:Exemption in Respect of the use of Motor Gasoline in a Small Light Aeroplane Description:The Air Navigation Order defines the maximum mass limits of microlight aeroplanes as 300 kg single seat and 450 kg two seat. Microlights are excluded from regulation by EASA through Annex II to Regulation 216/2008. However, that regulation specifies the mass limits as 315 kg single seat and 472 kg two seat for aeroplanes that are equipped with airframe mounted total recovery parachute systems. This exemption defines aircraft with airframe mounted total recovery parachute systems and masses up to 315 kg single seat and 472 kg two seat as Small Light Aeroplanes and allows for them to be flown under the same rules as microlight aeroplanes.
